Final Fantasy 7 Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi has said that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the final entry in the remake trilogy, is nearing completion. Speaking to YouTube creator Ashif's Release Notes, as reported by GamesRadar+, Hamaguchi discussed his approach to leading the project and the toll it has taken on him personally.
Hamaguchi said he has spent 12 years working on the trilogy, a span that has caused him to feel significant responsibility and pressure. As development nears its end, he said that pressure has started to ease.
He referenced the game's announcement at Summer Game Fest, saying he hopes people who saw it came away thinking it looks promising. He added that as the project approaches completion, he has personally been able to play it and feel that it is satisfying, saying, "I am quite confident in it."
Hamaguchi acknowledged that, as the final chapter in the trilogy and a release tied to the original game's 30th anniversary, Revelation carries significant weight. He said the final judgment ultimately rests with players, but reiterated his own confidence in the game. He added that he can now see the end of development, describing his current state as one where the pressure is finally lifting.
GamesRadar+ noted that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has faced criticism from some fans, including reactions to Rebirth's ending, but that the games have largely been well received.
