A new Baldur's Gate 3 mod called A Dream of Silence: ReVamped has been released on Nexus Mods, offering players a roughly six-hour custom campaign built around the game's popular vampire elf companion, Astarion. The mod, created by lizardphunk, is based on a browser-based text adventure of the same name by developer Abigail Corfman.

The campaign was released in three acts over the past year and has now been packaged together as a single complete story following the release of its third and final act. The story takes place inside Astarion's mind, where a dreamscape is controlled by beings called Bastellus—living nightmares that feed on dream energy. The player's character is projected into Astarion's mind and must help him escape by making their way through a twisted version of Cazador's dungeon.

According to both outlets, the mod features four different endings and introduces six new companions, each with unique dialogue and rewards. The three acts are structured differently: Act One is primarily dialogue-based, while Act Two introduces new mechanics, adds the companions, and allows for combat as well as conversation. GamesRadar+ notes the mod also includes "more dynamic combat and boss fights" and, notably, a cat that potentially accepts scritches. PC Gamer reports that Act Three changes things up further, though the mod's creator has not specified how.

Lizardphunk has said the goal of ReVamped was to showcase the capabilities of Baldur's Gate 3's modding tools, with hopes that it could inspire further custom campaigns from the community. GamesRadar+ draws a comparison to the custom campaign tools once available in Larian's earlier game, Divinity: Original Sin 2, and mentions that another fan project, Return to Candlekeep, has faced a slow development process due to limitations such as multiplayer restrictions.

Both sources note that Larian Studios itself has ruled out further expansions of Baldur's Gate 3, leaving fan-made mods as a likely source of new content for the foreseeable future. PC Gamer adds that Hasbro, which owns the Baldur's Gate license, is still searching for a studio to develop Baldur's Gate 4, with developers reportedly hesitant to take on a project of that scale—though Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader developer Owlcat Games has expressed interest. Larian, meanwhile, is currently working on its next game, Divinity, about which little has been revealed since a trailer last year.
